Skrúður island (64.9002°N x 13.6245°W) is located outside of Fáskrúðsfjörður in East Iceland. It is fairly vegetated with steep cliffs, rising 160 meters above sea level. Deployment of GLS and GPS loggers on northern gannets started in 2024.

The island is classified as an important bird area due to large numbers of common guillemot (around 11,400 pairs) and Atlantic puffins (roughly 150,000 pairs). It is also the third largest breeding colony of northern gannets in Iceland (about 6,600 pairs). Since 1995 the island and surrounding areas have been a protected nature reserve.
